CBD Oil Strengths: How Much Should I Take?

Shopping for CBD oil can be challenging, especially when you are a new CBD oil user and with so many different strength options, it can just be overwhelming. 

This article will explain the difference between the CBD oil strengths, what they mean, and how to choose the one that is right for you.

Potency is one of the most important things to consider when choosing a CBD oil. The strength of a CBD oil definitely depends on how much cannabidiol it contains. When talking about strength, you’re talking about potency, and that means how much CBD per volume. 

Spark CBD offers three different potencies, 1000 milligrams of CBD1500 milligrams of CBD, and 2500 milligrams of CBD each in a  30ml bottle (1 ounce). The 1000 mg bottle provides 33 milligrams of CBD per dropper, the 1500 mg provides 50 milligrams of CBD per dropper,  and the 2500 mg provides 83 milligrams of CBD per dropper. This means that you would have to take almost 3 times as much of the 1000mg strength to achieve the same dose as the 2500mg strength. 

Does strength matter? And if so, how much?

The truth is, when it comes to CBD nothing is standardized. A dose that works for one person might be totally ineffective for someone else. Our bodies and metabolisms, and a myriad of other factors make the results of CBD use variable. However, strength does matter! Choosing the right strength of CBD oil depends on what you’re trying to find relief from. It is important to have an idea of the right concentration to use in order to get the best results. 

It is recommended that you start with a low potency first, or at least until you experience how your body reacts to the CBD oil. Because everybody’s biochemistry is different, not everyone will react the same way or get the same therapeutic effects from CBD oil. Also, starting with the lowest potency oil lets you adequately gauge how much CBD oil it takes to achieve desired results. Many people don’t use a full dropper dose at first, instead they start with as little as 5-7 drops of oil, and slowly move up the dose daily until they find a dose that works, especially for uses such as general wellness and day to day health. For moderate stress, inflammation, and mild pain/soreness they start with half a dropper full. And for sleep issues, stress, anxiety, depression and day to day pain inflammation a full dropper dose.

It’s important to start with the smallest possible dose and work up from there.
